Magnesium Chloride for Skin Health, Acne, Eczema and Dermatitis

There are so many FORMS of magnesium that it can be quite overwhelming to decide what type to use, and for which particular conditions or health challenges.  Yes, the majority of people in the western world are deficient in magnesium generally (due to soil depletion and the poor western diet) and yes, that has profound health implications.

Magnesium deficiency estimated to affect up to 50% of US population.

Firstly, what is Magnesium Chloride?  MgCl is a chemical compound that is composed of one atom of magnesium and two atoms of chlorine. It is commonly found in all sorts of products, from fertilizers and antacids to textiles and extensively used in a number of different industries, including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and water treatment.  In addition to its many industrial uses, magnesium chloride has also been shown to have a number of potential health benefits.

One area in which magnesium chloride may be particularly useful is in the realm of skin health. Research suggests that magnesium chloride may be able to help improve a variety of skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and dermatitis.

One of the primary ways in which magnesium chloride may be able to benefit the skin is by helping to reduce inflammation. Inflammation is a natural response by the body to various types of stimuli, and it is often accompanied by swelling, redness, itching and discomfort. Chronic inflammation can lead to a number of different health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. By reducing inflammation, magnesium chloride may be able to help reduce the risk of these and other health issues.

Another potential benefit of magnesium chloride for skin health is its ability to improve skin hydration. The skin is made up of a number of different layers, and it is important for these layers to be properly hydrated in order to function well. Magnesium chloride may be able to help improve skin hydration by increasing the production of ceramides, which are the fatty molecules which help to keep the skin moisturized and healthy.

In addition to these potential benefits, magnesium chloride may also be able to help improve the overall appearance of the skin. Some research suggests that magnesium chloride may be able to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and it may also be able to help improve skin elasticity. This could make it an effective treatment for people who are looking to improve the appearance of their skin as they age.

There are a number of different ways in which magnesium chloride can be used to benefit the skin. It can be applied topically in the form of sprays, creams, lotions, and other skin care products, or it can be taken orally in the form of supplements. It is important to speak with a healthcare provider before using magnesium chloride for skin health, as it may not be suitable for everyone and may interact with certain medications.

In conclusion, magnesium chloride is a chemical compound that has a number of potential benefits for skin health. It may be able to help reduce inflammation, improve skin hydration, and improve the overall appearance of the skin. While more research is definitely needed to fully understand the role of magnesium chloride in skin health, it may be worth considering as a potential daily treatment option for a variety of skin conditions.
